Bosporus

10 x 300 x 10000cm,

installation at the Heidelberger Kunstverein, Germany

2009

„Bosporus“ is a water basin. The object has the form of the identically named strait,

which is the geographical border between Europe and Asia. The piece puts a finger

on the contradictions of this border, for, on the one hand it divides, and on the other,

it is a place which is frequented a lot and used for many different purposes.

The basin was filled with water and a flash wire emitting electric currents was immersed

into the water, which sent small waves across the water.

Within two months of the exhibition green algae has grown in the water.
